Greetings from all of us here at Hank Lee’s Magic Factory. We’ve had an absolutely delightful week, with temperatures in the high 60s. Not so bad for November.
Today, Friday, is Veteran’s Day. I want to take a moment to thank every single veteran, whether they served in peace time or war time, for what they have done for our country. You folks are the best, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. And, if you are looking to hear some of the best war stories ever, come to next year’s Conclave on April 13th 2012, give my father-in-law Jonah a small glass of Bourbon, and ask him about World War II. He’s got a million stories, all with happy endings.
I am a big fan of change. Actually, I’m a bigger fan of paper money, but change is good, too. , So this week I am announcing a change in the way we handle our weekly email Newsletter and our weekly Excitements. After a great deal of research, I have come to the conclusion that, because the email Newsletter comes out on Friday, a lot of folks miss it on that day. Either they are not at the office, or they are not at home, or they have to stay after school, or they beep out earlier to try and make it a three-day weekend. For whatever reason, they do not see the weekly Excitement until the repeat of the Friday Newsletter on Monday. And, many times they miss the weekly event completely. So, starting next week, we will be announcing the week’s Excitement on one of the weekdays that are not Friday. And, we will be sending out the good old email Newsletter on Friday & Monday as always. It makes a lot of sense to us, and we shall see how it works out.

(1) Snake Basket – Electronic – Remote Controlled: The classic Snake Basket routine, brought into the 21st Century by our friends at Frontier Magic.
A snake is removed a really nice basket and introduced to the audience. Surprisingly, the snake is an amateur magician! A card is chosen by one of the spectators and then returned to the deck. The deck is shuffled and then thrown into the woven basket, along with the snake.
This very clever snake is asked to find the selected card. In moments the snake rises from the basket with a card in its mouth. But, it is the wrong card!
Taking the card from the snakes mouth, you tell it to go back down and try again to find the chosen card.
The snake does as it is told, and descends into the basket. Once again, the snake looks for the card. You can tell he is really busy, as cards come flying out of the basket!
After all the commotion, the snake again rises out of the basket and this time with the selected card! After descending into the basket he rises up and down for bows and curtain calls! He even drinks a large glass of milk!
