Greetings from all of us at Hank Lee’s Magic Factory. It’s been a typical August week here in New England. Some sun. A little rain. All in all, pretty uneventful. Which is exactly what you want this time of year.
On the home front, last weekend was the first ever Cantor Cousins Reunion. Bonnie has so many cousins on her side of the family; you can’t count them, even if you use all of your fingers and all of your toes. And, let me tell you, these are Kissin’ Cousins. Friday night was a “no-need to light the grill” barbecue. Seriously with Corned Beef Sandwiches as the main attraction, how much grilling do you need? Saturday afternoon we all took a harbor cruise that left from Portsmouth, NH, spun around the Isle of Shoals and then back to Portsmouth. A three hour cruise. No Gilligan required. Saturday night was a big Italian feast. It was all lots of fun. You should have been there.
Thursday morning, Lucas left for a short trip to Santa Barbara. He is off to see Julia the GF in performance at the Academy Of the West. As usual, the airline ticket was booked by Bonnie. So, I had to drive Lucas to the airport at 3:00 AM. That’s in the morning! Bonnie does love those early morning flights.
Now, the house is empty except for me. So, I can do whatever I want and answer to no one. I can get in my PJs as early as I want. I can watch TV in the morning if I want. I can have whatever I want for dinner. And, I don't even have to answer the phone if I don’t want to. But, I must say it is very quiet here. I think I’ll turn up the music really loud. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

(6) Coin Waltz – Alex Pandrea: Coin Waltz is Alex Pandrea's take on the classic fusion plot in magic, where two objects inexplicably become one. A quarter is borrowed from a spectator and signed with a permanent marker. A second quarter is also signed. The coins are held at the fingertips and slammed together, merging them into a single quarter that is signed on both sides! The quarter can be immediately examined by the spectator and kept as a souvenir!

(7) Voodoo Doll Prediction: A spectator is selected to play the part of a Voodoo priest. "Someone in this audience is going to experience unimaginable pain as a result of this gentleman's action!" you explain.
A cloth Voodoo doll is displayed, an effigy representing some unknown person in the room. "Please take these pins and, at your discretion, insert them into the doll, any where you like. You can use all five pins or one or two, it is completely up to you. Your choice will determine the amount of pain and agony the victim will experience."
Once the spectator has completed his task, a scream is heard and a person shakes violently as a result of the Voodoo curse.
A plaque, which had been shown earlier, encased in a black vinyl sleeve, is revealed. To the surprise of all, the exact locations chosen by the 'Voodoo priest' are marked on the figure, silk-screened on the plaque!
The instructions were written by George Robinson Jr. and lead the audience down a path that suddenly takes a turn. The tension of the spooky and bizarre rite is suddenly broken by the comical reactions of the performer, culminating in a mysterious and baffling prediction.
Instant reset; no stooges; no force of any kind; nothing is written down, etc. The spectator has complete control over how many pins he or she uses and complete control over where he chooses to insert the pins. The outcome is always 100% correct.

The Dr."Q" Slates, invented and manufactured by Nelson Enterprises, were last available in the 1980's from Venture III Magic who acquired the rights from Nelson Enterprises. The Slates were soon swept up by performers and collectors of quality mentalism.
