Greetings from everyone here at Hank Lee’s Magic Factory. What a week! What a week!
I hope you were all pleasantly surprised by Tuesday’s Surprise Event. Judging by the response, I would say it was a huge success. It’s not something we can do all of the time, or even on a regular basis. But, once in a while, it’s fun for all!
Streaming Video made it’s debut this week on our website at www.magicfact.com. What a cool idea it is! And, it is going to continue to get better and better as more and more videos are added to the list of available titles. I have to be honest, I even ordered a couple to watch at home. I think it’s very neat to be able to watch the Reel Magic DVDs right on my computer. But, that’s just me. It’s well worth checking out, and giving it a try. My guess is that you will be hooked!
On the home front, Aron the Elder Son leaves today for his first big after-college job. He will be working at the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. What better job for a history boy? He and Bonnie will be driving down to DC today and getting him all set up. Then, Bonnie flies home on Tuesday.
Lucas The Singing Son turned 21 this week. Happy Birthday to him! Hard to believe that the years fly by so fast. Julia, Lucas’ GFF, threw him a big surprise party on Wednesday. She worked really hard on the event. There was a Salsa Band, an Open Mike Hour and Lucas got to wear a giant Sombrero. Now that he’s legal, he could even drink a giant Sombrero, but I’ll bet he didn’t.
And, that’s the news from here, now let’s take a look at this week’s excitement.

Now, let’s take a look at this week’s Hotlist
(1) Psypher – Robert Smith: The highly acclaimed product, Universal Impression, made bigger, better and stronger. Imagine knowing what anyone is thinking at anytime. Any word, picture, card, or thought is written by a spectator and you know what it is, without ever coming near them!
Here's what you get
More options, a larger gimmick for you to work with. (Twice as much as the original)
Custom made to work 20% better than the original.
A business card wallet
Most peek wallets cost twice the amount of this entire package. You're getting one free! And guess what? This blows any peek wallet out of the water! Why? Because you never touch the business card after they write on it.
Psypher is extremely easy to use, but throw in some basic card technique and routining from B. Smith and your levels of deception and impact goes up a few notches. Of course if you want to sit back and let the gimmick do all the work, go right ahead, that's what it's here for! Here are some of the routines taught on the DVD:
E-Z - This effect is one of the most pure mentalism effects conceivable with a deck of cards. A spectator is asked to think of any card in the deck, write it down on a piece of paper, and put that piece of paper in their pocket. All of which is done while your back is turned; you can even be in another room! When you return, you remove the cards from the box and place one face down card on the table. Ask the spectator to name the card they are merely thinking of... the spectator turns the card over and it is the thought of card!!
Time Zone - Imagine a spectator thinks of a time, a second spectator removes 3 cards from the deck, when the thought of time is named, the second spectator reveals her cards. The value of the cards match the thought of time!
Name and Card Routine - This is B. Smith’s killer card routine with multiple, impossible climaxes! Imagine not only being able to know the card someone is thinking of, but also know when they think 'stop' while dealing through the deck. Not only do you tell them when they thought stop, you now tell them what card they are thinking of. Not only do you tell them what card they are thinking of, you have them turn over the card they mentally stopped at and it is the thought of card! Not only do you do all that, you now have them think of a person that is important in their life and without any words, you reveal the name of that person!
Business Card Wallet - You can do anything you want with this, all while handing out your business cards! This is invaluable for the working magician. Imagine impressing a potential client by having them think of anything (name, word, picture, anything!) and having them write it on your business card and put it in their pocket all while you are turned away. Now imagine the astonishment when you reveal that thought! You've just given them a story to tell for the rest of their lives, along with proof for them to keep and show others, which happens to be your business card.
Plus - Three additional routines, psychology, performance tips, peeks and more!
This isn't just a DVD or just a gimmick, this is an entire mentalism kit with endless possibilities. $40.00 (40.756)
(2) Al’s Miracle Load Salt Pour: The effect is well known to most magicians. Take a saltshaker and pour some salt into your clenched fist. Open your hand and the salt has vanished! You then reach into the air, close your hand and suddenly a seemingly endless stream of salt pours out of your previously empty hand.
Fred Kaps and many others have made the Long Salt Pour effect into a great classic. If you have seen Kaps perform this finale to his great manipulative act you will remember that, as the salt pours out of his hand, the orchestra starts up with the final music for his act. The music is almost at an end but still the salt continues to pour. Fred signals the orchestra to keep the music rolling and it starts up again. This happens several times and it seems as if the salt is never going to stop pouring. Then, as the salt finally comes to an end, Fred rubs his hands together for a moment and throws the gimmick, that he used, into the Top-it in the tail of his evening tail coat. His hands are empty and he is clean.
Fred Kaps used to pick up his gimmick from his table, due to his extreme skill, he had no problem ditching his gimmick. Others have not been so successful.
There are some wonderful gimmicks available to use and they vary in price from cheap to very, very expensive. They all have on thing in common. You have to load them into your hand and ditch them somewhere at the end of the performance.
If you have a gimmick full of salt in your hand and you slowly pour out streams of salt the audience wonder if you are holding some kind of container, so the end ditch is very difficult because the audience have their eyes on your hand and wonder what is in it.
Al's Miracle Salt Pour gimmick is completely different. You start clean and end clean and can show both hands empty at the beginning and the end of the effect.
(3 Vest Pocket Himber Wallet: The problem with many gaffed wallets is that they look like magic props. The Vest Pocket Himber Wallet looks like it belongs in the pocket of a well-dressed man about town. It's made of top quality leather,. The wallet is gimmicked in the style of the Himber Wallet, but it is smaller in size. The wallet measures 4-5/8” x 3-1/4” and is very thin. When opened, there is a license window on one side, a pocket on the other. Playing cards and other items are placed into the pocket, and vanished or switched. A valuable prop for the close-up performer, with many applications for cards, mentalism, etc.
(4) Three Card Prince – Harry Anderson: Harry Anderson's Three Card Monarch is one of the best versions of Three Card Monte ever. The routine is great. If you work a lot of big shows, the effect can't be beat. However, it is a little large for club dates and parlor shows! So, after much thought and consideration we decided to produce a smaller version of Harry's Three Card Monarch, Three Card Prince!
The effect is exactly the same as Three Card Monarch. Only the cards are smaller. They measure just a little over 12" x 16." So, they can be handled by the average size performer in the average club or parlor show. They are still beautifully silk screened in 4 colors on heavy plastic. And the effect is still massive!
Each set of cards comes with Harry's own fast-paced, clever routine that'll leave 'em begging for more.
If you always wanted to perform Three Card Monarch, but thought it was just too big, here's your chance.
This is a very special routine; done with very special cards; developed by a very special guy.
(5) Spirit Lights: The amazing new Houdini Spirit Lights are one of the most visual act enhancing props you can have in your magic arsenal!
Geno Munari has taken the concept of lights at the fingertips to a new level.
Now you can show your hands front and back and wiggle your fingers.
Then, start producing light at the fingertips.
Make the point of light appear out of thin air, move the point of light around, pass the point of light from one hand to the other and then make the point of light disappear as quickly as it appeared.
Anyone can easily do this effect, with little or no skill required and the device can be custom fitted on your finger, allowing for some amazing effects that cannot be done with any other device.
• Long lasting gimmicks with the ability to easily replace the batteries.
• Show hands empty front and back.
• Toss the lights from hand to hand.
(6) Ball And Cone Plus: A classic of magic with a surprise ending!
Produce a red ball.
In a wink, the ball changes to white.
Cover the white ball with the cone. The white ball vanishes! Show both the cone and your hands empty.
Place the cone on the palm of your hand, lift the cone and the white ball reappears!
Place the white ball in a top hat.
Lift the cone again, and the white ball has jumped back.
Once again, cover the white ball with the cone.
This time, when you lift the cone, the white ball has vanished, and there is a salt shaker in its place.
Pour the salt into your hand, where it vanishes, only to reappear inside a black silk. Comes with Cone, Balls, and Salt Gimmick and Instructional DVD. $39.95 (10.1595)
(7) Mirage Multiplying Billiard Balls: These billiard balls are getting rave reviews from the magic world.
The balls are made from silicone material similar to the kind used for surgery. So they will never fade and will last a lifetime!
If they get dirty, they will clean-up easily with just soap and water.
The balls are 1-3/4” in diameter. You receive three balls and one shell.
