Tenyo For 2011 - Read All about It!

Greetings from everyone here at Hank Lee’s Magic Factory. I have to admit it. I was really hoping to have a lazy week. You know. Feet up on the desk. Smoking one of Aron’s big fat cigars. Office door closed. No phone calls. But, it was just not destined to be. I have been as busy as can be this entire week. It looks like I might even be working over the weekend. Sheesh. Why so busy, you ask? Well, kids, read on.

First, open your windows. Take a deep breath. Can you smell it? Of course you can. It’s the smell of brand new Tenyo magic. And, it’s a mighty fine smell. Tenyo has announced their 2011 line, and we have already had samples in hand to play with. There are four new items. Two of them are exceptionally good. One is so-so, and one is a kind of clunker. You can read all about them in this week’s Hotlist. We will have them ready for shipment in December, as usual. However, the first batch will be extremely limited. So, if you don’t want to be left out, I would really recommend pre-ordering now.

Next, I spent a great deal of time this week working on the new EXTRA. It’s up on line just waiting for you. You can either press on the EXTRA Button at www.magicfact.com, or you can download the EXTRA in pdf format by clicking here.
You can download it, print it in full color and carry it with you wherever you go. If you don’t want to bother with either of those methods, just drop me an email at magicfact@aol.com and I’ll be happy to print you a copy and mail it off to you. I just want to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to check out the new EXTRA.

And, that’s why I have been so busy this week.

It is time now to check out this week’s excitement!

Now, let’s take a look at this week’s Hotlist

(1) Torn 2 Pieces – Shawn Farquhar:
Here’s the killer effect Shawn has kept secret for over a decade.
It’s the effect Shawn does when he wants to get a client to book him again and again! A real photograph, signed by the spectator, is torn into four pieces. The photo is really torn.
Then, in an instant all four pieces join together but in the wrong order leaving the spectator with a mismatched photo with their signature! That’s right, their signature is on the odd “almost restored” photo.
You get a sample of the photograph, Adobe Photoshop templates that are almost automatic, jpg’s of additional photo’s already prepared, a stock photo library and a detailed instructional DVD that explains how you can start doing this trick and customize it yourself.
You will need access to an ink jet/laser printer or a digital photo center to make additional photos.
$30.00 (10.1596)

(2) 4-D Surprise – Tenyo 2011: If you are only going to buy one of the new Tenyo 2011 line, 4-D Surprise should be the one. It is one of the “most-fooling” tricks we have ever seen. It is by far the best of the new Tenyo items.
In front of your audience, you assemble two plates and a semi transparent box.
The spectators can clearly see that there is nothing inside the box.
Yet, when you raise the box, a Statue Of Liberty figurine magically appears in the empty space. It looks incredible!
It has always been a magician’s dream to make a solid object appear from nowhere. Lubor Fiedler has finally made that dream come true.
Jaws will drop when the little Stature Of Liberty appears.
The effect is marvelous. The method is beyond belief!

(3) The Mysterious Puzzle of The Missing Dollar Bill – Nicholas Einhorn:
A famous puzzle is brought to life with this simple-to-do and highly entertaining routine which seems to defy logic!
The Famous Puzzle:
"Three diners finish their meal. The waiter says the check is $30, so each guest pays $10. Later the waiter realizes the check should only be $25.
To rectify this, the waiter returns a dollar bill to each of the three diners and they give the final $2 to the waiter, as a tip for his honesty.
Now that each diner has been given $1 back, each has paid $9, taking the total paid to $27. Add to that the $2 tip they gave to the waiter and the total is $29.
If the guests originally paid $30, where did the missing dollar go?"
The Routine: After the above puzzle has been told the magician explains that maybe it would be easier to work out what happens to the final dollar if he uses real money as he tells the story.
That being said he clearly shows $30 and with actions to match the story, the money is re-counted and bizarrely a real one dollar bill is missing!
A final bill is added to once again total $30. The spectators confirm that there are definitely $30. Once more the process is repeated and astonishingly the result is the same. A bill disappears!
A true mystery which seems unexplainable and which they can retell and enjoy long after you have parted.
Ideal to keep in your wallet until the ‘right moment.’
Five second reset
20 page spiral bound manuscript (8.5" x 5.5")
Over 25 clear photos.
Inspired by Daryl's original routine 'A Puzzling Bill Vanish' and released with his blessing.
$20.00 (10.1601)

(4) Ghost Lamp – Tenyo 2011: The Scotty York Lamp is one of the true classics of magic. If you have always wanted one, but just didn’t have $200 to spend, this is your lucky day!
Wrap a light bulb inside of a handkerchief, and allow a spectator to wave it over several piles of cards.
When the bulb comes close to one pile, it lights up! Sure enough, the top card of that pile is the spectator’s selected card.
The light stays on until you are read for it to go off. To turn the light off, you cut an “invisible” wire with a pair of scissors. At the instant you snip the invisible wire, the bulb goes out.
This masterpiece of magic is now available as part of Tenyo’s 2011 line.
Included in the set are the very special light bulb, a special deck of cards and a special gimmick you can use for added impact.
Fantastic magic. $91.50 (10.1598)

(5) Sho-Gun Wallet: Years ago, Al Cohen gave us permission to make the Sho-Gun Wallets. We have been making them ever since!
Al Cohen's Sho-Gun Wallet is a great idea in gimmicked wallets. You can use it to change a one dollar bill into a five dollar bill! Use it to change a check into real money! Place a credit card in the wallet, and out comes some real cash! Use it to switch a billet in a mentalism routine! There are a thousand uses for this clever wallet -- it's limited only by your imagination! And, the Sho-Gun looks exactly like a genuine man's wallet. It's the type that most of us carry in our hip pocket! But, it's been gaffed to perform beautifully as a switching wallet. As a matter of fact, the switch can be done right in the spectator's hands -- while they are holding the wallet! Beautifully made of genuine leather. It's designed to hold all your stuff: money, credit cards, license, etc. Yet, it's a very slim-looking wallet. I really like this one. How much? So much that I carry it with me all the time, as my regular wallet! $50.00 (10.166)

(7) Trap Box – Tenyo 2011: The third installment in the 2011 Tenyo line is Trap Box.
Place a finger ring or coin inside of the box. Close the lid and allow your audience to hear the object rattle around inside.
Suddenly, the rattling stops, and the box is completely empty!
For years, magicians have used the Rattle Box in their performances.
However, this box has been entirely redesigned with a brand new gimmick.
The best way to understand how advanced this gimmick has become is to hold it in your own hands. Yan can immediately hand the box out to a spectator, since the gimmick is so well hidden.
Two routines are included: Instant Ring Transport in which a ring vanishes from the box and instantly appears on your finger, and Magic Knot in which a borrowed coin vanishes from the box thanks to a magic handkerchief.

(8) Tales of Enchantment – Walt Anthony:
An important new book on theatrical and story magic. Techniques and original presentations to make you more magical!
A lifetime of practical material: Effects, techniques, articles and anecdotes, from a full-time professional entertainer's career, are explored in the book.
You will learn new routines and original magic, you will be exposed to a dynamic writing style that makes you feel comfortable while challenging you to get more creative and go beyond simple story telling or basic magic. You will learn skills and tools for thinking and creating. In fact, if you don’t think of new ideas as you are reading this book and find yourself reliving a bit of the giddiness you enjoyed as a kid when you visited a magic shop, unwrapped a new trick, or saw something that really amazed you- well then, you're just not living the magical life!

(10) Mental Marriage – David Solomon: The magician displays four Queens and four Kings and his lucky coin.
The spectator shuffles the Queens and the Kings.
She selects a King and a Queen, a completely free selection.
When she holds the lucky coin, the cards match!
Conversely with no lucky coin the cards do not match.
These Mental Marriages are uncanny magic.
For the climax, the spectator is given the lucky coin and a choice of two envelopes in which she can win a Million. First she opens the envelope not selected to show that it contains a $20 bill. The lucky envelope is opened in which is a check that states, "A Million Thanks."

(12) Cloud Money – Tenyo 2011:
Cloud Money is the fourth and final item in the 2011 Tenyo line. A dollar bill floats out of your hand and dances in mid-air. Left and right. Up and Down. Finally, it floats straight up, above your head.
This “floating bill” effect is both effective and easy to do.
The gimmick has been designed to enable you to take a bill from any country and instantly make it float upward from your hands. You can show the front and back of the bill. There are no threads used.
That having been said, Cloud Money is a great item for Tenyo Collectors. You have to get it to keep your collection complete. In my humble opinion, it is the worst trick that Tenyo has put out in a very long time. Maybe forever. I do not think anyone will perform it, and it is best left sealed in the box. The kind of thing collectors do.
$32.50 (huh?) (10.1598)
