Greetings from all of us here at Hank Lee’s Magic Factory. Busy, busy, busy. That’s us this week. Really, only two busies, not three. I tossed in the extra busy just for dramatic effect. But, considering how hot it has been and how everyone, even the elves, tend to slow down a little in the heat, it’s OK that it was only a two-busy week.
This week we received some very exciting product news. Paul Harris is about to release his new Little Man effect. The effect is very straightforward. You bring out a box of Play Dough style modeling clay. You and a spectator work together to create a little clay man. Suddenly, the clay man begins to walk across the table. He walks and turns and walks and turns. It looks absolutely amazing. Whenever you wish, you pick up the little clay man and squish him right down. Take the clay, roll it into a ball, and put it away. And then, you bow to thunderous applause. Little Man will be available very soon, and of course, we will have it for you! Keep your eyes on the Hotlist!
Our good friends Fran Flynn and John Chumsae stopped by the warehouse last week. When I walked outside, there was Fran’s Magic-Mobile. All decked out and looking very cool. I have enclosed a picture for your entertainment. Notice that Fran has attached a business card holder on the outside of his car so people walking by can take one of his cards. A great idea, for sure. And, the holder has a latching top so the cards don’t go spilling all over the highway when he is driving. As I was taking the picture of Fran’s car, I had a fun idea. I should ask all of you who have really cool Magic Mobiles to send us photos (by email, of course). We will sort through the photos and pick the best one, publish it in the email Newsletter and give you a fitting prize. This could be an ongoing campaign, or it could just be a once. All depends on you folks. The more photos, the longer we run the campaign and the more prizes we can give out. Get those photos in for your chance to win!
On the home front® (and this is just for you Richard), Aron returned to Gainesville to start his senior year at UF on Monday. He’s in a great new apartment and looking forward to a fabulous year. Lucas leaves today, Friday, for his Sophomore year at Oberlin. We will be flying out with Lucas to help him set up his room and because we love the little town of Oberlin so much. Things are almost back to normal at home. By next week, it will be so quiet you’ll be able to hear a pin drop!

Quarter Sorter: A true blast from the past! Al Cohen’s Quarter Sorter routine combined with Joe Porper’s machining skill. What a combination!
Two beautifully machined brass cups are placed on the table and can be examined. Three quarters are borrowed (you can use your own if you wish) and are dropped into either one of the cups by a spectator.
The coins are poured into your hand and travel back into the cups. This is repeated several times with the coins traveling back and forth.
As a finale, both cups are raised. Under one is a stack of coins and under the other a solid ball.

Frozen Glow –Peter Loughran: Borrow a deck of cards and ask a spectator to select any card from the deck (no force, free choice). You don’t even have to touch the deck.
Introduce a small square green Plexiglas lens (a light filter) and ask the spectator to examine it.
Tell the spectator that you have the ability to actually freeze time, however for only for a split second. Explain that some theorize if time stood still even for a moment that certain properties of light in the spectrum could be altered leaving an impression behind...forever!
Offer to demonstrate your unique ability to harness the power of this phenomenon by using their freely chosen playing card and the un-gimmicked green Plexiglas lens.
Hand the spectator a marker and ask the spectator to sign their name on both sides of the playing card so there will be absolutely no mistaking their card for a different one, and they will be able to recognize the card at all times as it remains in full view during the illusion. With the card signed on both sides it will be impossible for you to switch it for a different card.
Hold the card flat with either the face or the back showing. Hold the green lens over top of their playing card and signature. Light will pass through the lens and cast a green shadow or glow over the top of their card and their signature. The lens can be moved around above the card showing the green glow moves with the lens.
Ask the spectator to say “Stop” at any time and you will attempt to freeze time. If it works, the light will actually be captured onto their card. Move the lens above the card in small motions showing the green glow is still moving with the lens, but never let the lens touch the card.
The spectator says “Stop!” and the lens is pulled away, but the green glow is left behind on part of the card and on top of their signature. The card can then be handed out for examination and left for the spectator to keep!
• Can be used with any card in the deck and with any brand or deck of cards.
• The cards can be borrowed.
• Can be instantly repeated.
• There is no card force, it is a free choice.
• There is no switch of any kind.
• Easy to do and requires no sleight of hand.
• The performer's hands are shown empty at all times.
• The card can be examined before and after the effect.
