Happy Father's Day!

Greetings from all of us at Hank Lee’s Magic Factory, where we are keeping our shoulders to the wheel and our noses to the grindstone. I can personally attest to the fact that keeping one’s nose to the grindstone is extremely painful. But, we do it for you. Oh, yes we do.
This has been a most productive week here in Hank Lee Nation. The long-awaited (and I do mean long) Dice Illusion finally came in the door. We have shipped all of the back orders and have plenty left to fill any new orders. It’s a great trick, totally visual. There is a version on the market at some “other” dealers selling for $10.00 more. The only difference is that you get a two-sided mirror instead of a one-sided mirror. For $10.00 more? I don’t get it. Of course, the choice is yours. $25.00 or $35.00 for the same trick. You decide.

The even longer awaited Miller Miracle Wallets are also now in stock. Once again, we have filled all of the back orders and have enough left for any new orders. These are the most sought-after wallets on the market today. The wallet is a four-way switch wallet, but it is actually capable of eight “outs.” Each one is handmade and is really a work of art. If you have always wanted to get one, but hated the idea of waiting forever until they arrive, now is the time to act!

Steve-O, the I Remember Every Trick We Have Ever Carried Elf, reminded me of a trick we used to carry back in the good old days. It was a giant clear acrylic color-changing die, a Leopard Die, as it were. It was a really visual piece of magic. We decided that this would be a good one to bring back after all these years. So, we are actively working on making up a bunch of these. In fact, I have already put together a prototype, and it looks great. Keep your eyes on the Hotlist. We will have these ready in the next couple of weeks.

Are you still getting the weekly email Newsletter in Text-Only format? Why? The html version is so much better, with pictures and everything! TO get the html version, just drop me a note at magicfact@aol.com and we will hook you up!

And, that’s all the news from here, so let’s take a look at this week’s excitement!

And now to this week’s Hotlist!

Pocket Technicolor Prediction – Martin Lewis: From the creative mind of Martin Lewis, the originator of Cardiographic and Sidewalk Shuffle, comes Pocket Technicolor Prediction, a comedy mindreading effect with a stunning climax!
First a lady, then a gentleman, are asked to choose one of three envelopes. The envelopes are red, green and yellow.
Let’s say the lady chooses red and the gentleman chooses green. That means you are left with yellow.
Opening up the envelope, the lady reads, “I predict that you will choose red.”
The gentleman reads, “I predict you will choose green.”
Of course, the audience thinks this is some kind of joke. Rest assured, it is not!
A spectator reads the contents of the yellow envelope, the one left for you. “The lady will choose red, the gentleman will choose green and yellow will be left with the magician.” A killer finish!
Pocket Technicolor Prediction plays the same as Martin’s full size version, but fits in your jacket pocket. It can be performed anywhere and anytime from stage to close It has built in laughs and a surprise finish.
This version uses Mike Porstmann’s Double Decker envelopes, gaffed envelopes that have a wide variety of magical uses.
In the accompanying Quicktime movie, Martin shows you how to construct the Double Deckers quickly and easily and in a variety of shapes, sizes and styles, including a Poker size pay envelope and a most innocent looking drug store security lined style. He then goes over the Technicolor Prediction routine in both performance and handling, and also give many other ideas and routines for using these versatile envelopes.
The package includes pre-printed sheets to get you started quickly on making the envelopes, and Acrobat template files to allow you to print your own as required. You will need a computer with a color printer to take full advantage of these files.
A best seller during Martin’s recent US lecture tour. It comes complete with the sturdy acrylic board, envelopes and full instructions. Just $35.00 (40.684)

Around The Square: Devin Knight’s Around The Square is a real improvement on the original Squircle.
A double sheet of newspaper is shown on both sides. It is folded into quarters and a small 2" square is cut from a folded corner. The 2" square is unfolded showing it is actually a 4" inch square.
The double sheet of newspaper is partly unfolded. Instead of the expected rectangular shape, the audience sees a semicircle! The newspaper is completely unfolded revealing a cutout circle in the middle!
For an additional kicker, the small cutout square is waved in the air. The corners visibly turn round. The small piece is fully opened and seen to be a circle. This cutout circle perfectly matches the circular hole in the newspaper. Even the print on the cutout circle matches the rest of newspaper proving this was cut from that newspaper!
Bonus Mental Effect:
The performer has a participant select a card from an ESP deck. The participant retains the card, but he does not look at the symbol on it. The performer shows a sheet of newspaper and claims he will cut out a design that will match the symbol on the unknown card. The performer cuts out a square. The participant shows his selected ESP card; it is a circle. It appears the performer has failed.
The performer says, "That is exactly what I predicted, a circle." Before the participant can protest, the performer opens up the sheet of newspaper revealing a cutout circle. The performer's prediction is correct!
Suitable for both stage and close-up performances. Comes with sample newspaper, script with comedy patter, detailed photographed directions showing how to gimmick more newspapers and templates. $20.00 (60.1594)

Spellbound: The Wonder-Filled Life of Doug Henning – John Harrison: By 1974, magic had lost its mass appeal and there was no such thing as a celebrity magician—until a skinny, bucktoothed kid from Winnipeg became an overnight star in an unlikely Broadway musical called The Magic Show. Doug Henning, with his refreshingly modern approach to the art of illusion, permanently changed the face of magic and reintroduced an entire generation of audiences to grand illusion as a theatrical art.
John Harrison traces Doug’s stunning rise to fame from his humble beginnings in the Toronto coffeehouse circuit to his fantastic success as the world’s first celebrity magician in fifty years. Told with exacting detail and reverence for its subject, this is an engaging story about the making of a master illusionist and his unrelenting search for real magic.
From the highest rated magic television special in history, to three Broadway shows, to a decade of touring, John Harrison takes us on a backstage tour of Doug’s performing life and gives a behind-the-scenes look at the world of grand illusion. All of Doug’s astounding feats, like the Elephant Vanish, Water Torture Cell, Things that Go Bump in the Night and Walking Through a Brick Wall, are featured in this engaging biography of a man who believed he would one day be able to levitate without resorting to his illusionist’s bag of tricks.
As amazing as his onstage life, Doug Henning’s journey through the world of transcendental meditation and his brush with politics are told with equal intrigue.
The book is as exciting as Doug Henning’s miracles themselves, filled with captivating adventures, like Doug’s harrowing moments while submerged upside down in Houdini’s Water Torture Cell on live television, his several heart-stopping incidents with rampaging tigers, and his attempt to build an amusement park in Niagara Falls. The production of The Magic Show, Merlin and his eight television specials are told in copious detail.
From his first magic trick—making a quarter disappear—to his eventual retirement from the stage at the height of his career, the fantastic life and career of Doug Henning come vividly to life in this magical biography. It’s a book that truly has something for everyone. 440pages. Hardbound. $45.00 (BK01652)

ImpossiBill Braid Plus – Robert Neale: This is the new book and DVD combination from Robert Neale.
A dollar bill has been braided. Close examination reveals that it has been slit twice lengthwise in three bands that extend nearly to the ends of the bill. The braiding is real although the bands have never been separate. It looks impossible.
The bill can be borrowed, transformed into this impossible object, and returned to the owner in less than two minutes. The result is a distinctive memento. It is, as Michael Weber says, “A bill that cannot be spent.”
Comes with a companion DVD demonstrating the step-by-step procedure of how to create the braided bill. $25.00 (10.1525)
