The Battle Of The Compu-Beast!

Greetings from all of us at Hank Lee’s Magic Factory. This has been a week to remember, as once again I have donned my pocket protector, my glasses with the white tape holding them together, my slide rule and my Buck Rogers Decoder Ring and gone into battle with the Compu-Beast. It was not pleasant. The Compu-Beast played its darling little chime, then displayed the big apple and the spinning wheel. And that was all. It would not start, no matter what I tried. Reset the PRAM. Reset everything. Nothing. I could start it up from the System CD, but it would not recognize the internal hard drive. Which of course contains a ton of important data. Turn it off. Start it up. Turn I t off. Start it up. Hard smack on the backside (of the machine). Chimes. Spinning wheel. Nothing else. So, last night I neatly arranged seom votive candles around the Compu-Beast, lit them and carefullyplaced a nice glass of wine in front of the monster. This morning, the wine was gone and, when I pushed the On button, the Compu-Beast came to life. Go figure. Actually, go back-up. Which of course I did.
On a happy note, the new Summer EXTRA is online, just one short click away! And it is chock-full of great new stuff! As you probably know, we no longer send our quarterly EXTRAs by snail mail. The cost of printing and postage have become astronomical, not to mention the negative effect all that paper creates on the environment. You can get the new EXTRA in pdf form by going to this address:
http:www.hanklee.org/juneextra.pdf
You can read the EXTRA on your computer screen, or you can print one out at home, and it’s in full color!

Hank Lee’s is famous again! If you check page 94 of the June issue of MAGIC Magazine, you will see a very nice write-up on the shop, accompanied by some lovely color photos. If you don’t subscribe to MAGIC, you can get a copy from us. No surprise there, eh?

I was speaking to my old friend David Merry earlier in the week, specifically about a very funny sight gag that he uses in his act. It is the Senior Map, a self-folding map that looks really cool. David made a few of them up by hand to sell at his lectures. But, we wanted them for you, our favorite customers. After a bit of verbal arm-twisting, we made a deal with David and will have them available in just a few weeks.

That’s all the news from these parts, so it must be time to check out this week’s excitement!

QUADRUPLE POINTS: The Hank Lee Rewards Program has been up and running for some time now, and people are collecting some serious points and getting all kinds of free stuff using those points. As a reminder, for every retail dollar you spend with us at Hank Lee’s, you will get one Reward Point. Twenty Reward Points can be redeemed for one dollar in merchandise. Two hundred Reward Points gets you $10.00 in free merchandise. And on and on. The points are automatically added, and your point balance will appear on the invoice that comes with your order. There is no limit to the number of points you can collect. The points will not expire, so you can use them any time. All you need to do is tell us how many points you want to redeem when you place your next order (if you are ordering online, just put the number of points you would like to redeem in the Customer Notes Box and we will deduct the proper number of dollars from your order total). We think it’s a great idea. The perfect way to save for future orders! What could be better?
BETTER! I’ll tell you what’s better. Quadruple Points! That’s right, from the minute you get this email Newsletter until Thursday the 11th of June at midnight, we are giving you Quadruple Points! So, for every retail dollar you spend, you will get four points. The points will add up so fast that you won’t believe it! And you can use them with your very next order or with an order you place a year from now. The points never expire. So, buy some magic and watch those points accumulate!

Now, let’s take a gander at this week’s Hotlist.
