I was absolutely amazed when the elves told me how many free DVDs they sent off last week. An absolutely staggering number. Of course. Everyone thanks you for the flood of orders. Let’s see if this week’s Excitement does as well!
On the home front, this has been appliance breakdown week. Every time we turned around, a new appliance failed. It started with the cooktop in the kitchen. When Bonnie would turn on one of the burners, the spark-igniter would operate properly, but the burner wouldn’t light. We tried everything, then had the repair guy come. He said that to replace the necessary parts would cost almost as much as a new cook top. And, so it began. Next was the refrigerator. We had some problems with this before and replaced a major part, the evaporator coil. Turns out the new one sprung a leak and the refrigerator wasn’t cooling. A new coil is on order. Luckily, this one is under warranty. Finally, the dish washer. One of the upper rails failed because the ball bearing holder broke. The top rack came crashing down, filled with glasses. What a sound it made! This one I can fix myself, being that I am the handyman on call! As I write this, I wonder: Too much information?

(9) Publicity Secrets #1 – Devin Knight: One of the greatest publicity stunts ever conceived. It can result in free newspaper publicity worth thousands of dollars. Of all the publicity stunts that Devin Knight created, this was the late Al Mann's favorite!
A reporter is asked your car while you sit in the front seat or stand on the street. You command the engine to stall, it does and the car coasts to a stop. No amount of attempts by the reporter will start the car. You get out of the car and place your hands on the hood and concentrate. The reporter is now able to start the car! Another variation has another car passing by that is also caused to stall and stop on the highway at the same time. This can make for a heated exchange between you and the other driver that will be reported in the newspaper. Before a tow truck can be called, the performer apparently uses his psychic powers to make both cars start!
How To Stop A Moving Car in Front Of A Newspaper Office
This is a fantastic stunt and it appears in print for the first time. The performer stands in front of a newspaper office along with a reporter and causes a car driving by to suddenly stall by apparently using the powers of his mind. The stalled car can not be started, despite repeated attempts by the driver. You and the reporter walk over to see if you can be of assistance. The reporter also attempts to start the car to no avail.
You claim you will start the car using the powers of your mind. Place your hand on the hood of the car and concentrate. Instantly, the car starts, to the amazement of all watching. This feat can be an effective bit of street magic. Yes, you can even do these feats for television shows.
Some of this information appeared in two of Devin's previous publications, The Blindfolded Car and How To Stop A Moving Car pdf. However, this publication contains new and updated information on how to do this with modern cars. There is also a new method using the latest technology that has not appeared in print anywhere before. It is being revealed in this publication for the first time.

(10) Big Revelation – Wayne Dobson: Wayne has come up with a winner that you will be sure to use time and time again.
Ask a spectator to think of any card in a deck (no force of any kind).
Remove a piece of paper from your pocket, showing a list of card values (no suits). Ask her to concentrate on one of the values.
Unfold the paper claiming that you can reveal the identity of the thought of card by asking a series of questions.
A series of gag answers is then given to the spectator upon each new unfolding of the paper until you finally name the card that was merely thought of in the beginning!
To take the effect one step further, you open the paper one final time and there are a series of cards printed in a random scattering across the page.
A second spectator is asked to glance over the cards and think of one.
You then proceed to name the card that is being thought of by the second person.
This effect is easy to do, comes complete with props and an instructional DVD outlining the routine.
